Case Study: Clemens Food Group "Now Hiring" Billboard Campaign

Clemens Food Group was gearing up for a big recruitment push and wanted to grab the attention of local candidates by utilizing billboards.

Recruitment billboard ads have a tough job. Drivers only see a billboard for a few seconds so the image has to do most of the work. Clemens needed photos that would read instantly from the road and show what the jobs actually are. The goal was to make the driver or passenger driving by think, I could see myself there. And if you’re me think Oh my gosh I want to work with those people!

The Approach

The initial branding photo shoot was a holistic view of their entire operations. From the warehouse to the board room, we captured EVERYTHING, so when the time came to submit the photos for the billboard, it made their job a lot easier. Their recruiting campaign features three roles:

  • Production: a worker in a white coat, hairnet and blue gloves, right on the line

  • Warehouse & logistics: a team member in safety vest and glasses, smiling on the floor

  • Transportation: a driver leaning out of his truck cab, ready to roll

These are real employees in the places they actually work, not stock images. Every shot is tight and bright with a real smile at the center, so it holds up at billboard size and reads well from a moving car.

The Result

The rotation gives Clemens three chances to catch a passing driver: three roles, three faces, one clear message. In the few seconds it takes to drive by, each ad shows you the job, the workplace and the people you'd be working with.

Why It Matters

Billboard space isn't cheap, and the photo is what makes it pay off. A generic stock image just would not cut it for this advertisement. A real employee looking straight at you, proud of what they do, makes people look twice. That matters even more in recruitment, because candidates want to see who they'd actually be working with, and if the people that already work there like what they do.
