On the Job: Wes Carver electric

While my work brings me all over the east coast, nothing makes me happier than getting a call from a local business in my hometown. Wes Carver Electric has been owned and operated in little old Lansdale, Pennsylvania since 1999. Before they were ever clients, I have walked my dogs past their building on Broad Street a thousand times, and seen their signature vans all around town serving the community. They gave me a call in November to take some professional team photos to update their website. Wes has been a returning customer for several years, and understands the importance of incorporating regularly updated team photos to build a unified and authentic brand image.

Wes and his team are incredibly busy, so taking the time out of their day for photos means we need to maximize every minute. Before photoshoot day, we discussed his goals for the photoshoot and any specific shots he wanted to capture. We developed a shot list and a shoot flow that we thought would be the best use of the time and space we had, while prioritizing the image needs of the company. This organized approach ensured that when it was go time, we had a plan in place.

When shoot day came around, we were graced with a beautiful day and the Wes Carver team truly showed up with their sparkling personalities. And we were off to the races.

As the Wes Carver team understands, updating your website with new images keeps the content current and engaging for visitors. Fresh content, including images, positively impacts your website’s search engine rankings. And as we discuss regularly on this little blog, authenticity in that content is king. Showing Wes’ real team in real scenarios speaks directly to their clients about what they can expect from a visit.

When updating your website, think about which pages could benefit from eye-catching images. According to a 2015 Web Usability Report, 47% of first-time website visitors look at a company’s products and services first, compared to only 38% who look at the homepage first.

An important feature of web design is creating a layout that facilitates easy engagement for your customers. Extensive blocks of text or a challenging navigation layout can be significant deterrents for your audience. Using images to break up text creates visual interest and ensures a smooth flow for visitors as they navigate through your site. Wes Carver does a fantastic job of utilizing relevant images on each service page with real employees who clients might encounter when they work with the company.
