On The Job: Penn's SP2 and GSE Dual-Degree Programs

This spring I spent time on and off campus with the students and faculty from Penn's School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2) and Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE).

Stock photos and generic campus shots don't tell a prospective student anything real about a program. But photos of actual NPL/MSEd and MSW/MSEd students — in class, at info sessions, working internships — do three important things that stock imagery can't:

• Prove the program is real and active. Prospective applicants see actual students who are currently working and studying, not staged models.

• Show who belongs here. Seeing students who look like them, in the room, makes the programs feel accessible rather than abstract.

• Build trust faster than copy alone. A photo of a student mid-conversation with a faculty member or mentor says more about program culture than a paragraph of marketing text ever could.
