You may have heard the Democratic National Convention was in town this week. I was lucky enough to partner with MKG and Google to cover two days of speakers and panels related to empowering young voters and harnessing the energy of social media to reach them.
Day 1 was hosted by Latino Victory Project, Google and Cornell Belcher, and featured top Latino political and tech leaders in a panel. The panel covered fresh battleground state polling on the the changing nature of the electorate and the technological tools that are enabling voters to make informed decisions in the 2016 election.
Day 2 featured young creatives using new technology and social media to create communities and influence people. There was a quick visit from Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, and panelists included Ingrid Nilsen, Lifestyle Expert & Online Video Personality; Laci Green, Sex Education Activist & Online Creator; Eric Easter, President, National Black Programming Coalition; Katie Oyama, Senior Policy Counsel, Google; Brad Jenkins, Managing Director and Executive Producer, Funny or Die.
